Melrose Interactive Slavery Environment: Flash-based Walkthrough

Melrose Interactive Slavery Environment

The Melrose Interactive Slavery Environment is an award-winning Flash-based narrated tour of a pre-Civil War “suburban estate.” Users explore the estate from the perspective of the men, women, and children who were enslaved there. Clickable items prompt more detail; users can also jump to another section of the estate using the interactive map. This is part of the PBS educator’s companion website for the PBS documentary “Slavery in America.”  Take the Tour.

I designed, coded and produced the Flash and Actionscript components, working with the client and Content and Marketing teams to plan for and organize all media involved.

THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! I used this site 3 years ago with my sixth graders along with the novel “Chains” and suddenly the site was gone! I can’t tell you how happy I am that the site is up and running again! This has made my year!!!!
