PokerXFactor.com

Pokerxfactor.com, the brainchild of my good friend Scott Pendergrast, is an online poker training site incorporating narrated video by professional poker players, animated replays of hands and tournaments for review, poker blogs, and moderated chats. I was creative/front-end/UI/UX, and also created the interface and behaviors for the animated replayer, of which I am fairly proud.

PokerXFactor Hand History Replayer

The way it works is this: An online poker tournament player can obtain a record of all actions (hands) in the game; it’s available as text or XML. The player can submit this record to PXF (cut and paste, upload or email) and it’s converted to XML and read into the replayer, which animates the entire thing. My inestimable colleague Steve Lee wrote the converter scripts and handled the back end, while I built the interface and scripted most of the behaviors. Scott and Steve handled a good bit of the poker logic.

The result was something no one had ever seen before and spawned a huge flurry of replayers in the ensuing years. Pokerxfactor is still running but has had some setbacks (Steve and I moved to Barnes and Noble, for one), but I am doing some work with Scott on it again and hope to resurrect it to it’s former glory. However the replayer is still the best in the business, in my opinion.
